GLACIER
ENCOUNTER

The Glacier Encounter is the perfect introduction to glaciers in Vatnajökull National Park. By driving to the glacier in our super jeeps, we save your hiking legs and time for up on the ice. We fully carbon offset the tours, making the experience accessible and carbon neutral.

Once at the edge of the glacier we put on crampons, and armed with an ice axe, we venture onto the ice to explore the fascinating ice features such as moulins, crevasses, moraines and dirt cones. Your guide will tell you about the local Öræfi region, home to the highest peak of Iceland and several volcanoes.

Our meeting point is Freysnes gas station 2 minutes from the national park entrance.

In this 3 hour tour we explore the wide open icy landscape and find crevasses, moulins and volcanic ash.

The glacier surface and colours change a lot depending on the time of year. Summer is the perfect time to enjoy the views of the high mountain peaks and black sand beaches stretching out to the ocean in the distance.
