our certifications

AS A TOUR OPERATOR WE MAKE SURE TO KEEP OUR WORK PROFESSIONAL AND MEET ALL THE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR GLACIER TOURS WE PROVIDE.

We have been a tour operator in southeast Iceland since 1991. We make sure to have the most qualified guides in our team who make sure to take you on amazing tour, making sure they take care of your safety during the activity. You can see below what type of certifications our company has and we always keep things up to date and send the team to new courses if necessary.

Ferðafjallaleiðsögumanna certification:

All of our guides have sucessfully completed the course under the wing of Association of Icelandic Mountain Guides. Participants are certified through AIMG as Alpine trekking guides. Alpine trekking guides can lead groups on non-technical snow covered, glaciated terrain.

Icelandic tourist board certification:
We are proudly a part of an Icelandic tourist broad certification.  What it really means is: “Any party that wishes to operate as a tour operator or a travel agency shall obtain a licence from the Icelandic Tourist Board for this purpose. The licence certificate shall be issued by the Icelandic Tourist Board and the licence holder is obliged to make it visible to customers at his centre of operations. The Icelandic Tourist Board shall be in possession of a graphic logo which the holder is permitted to use on the issue of the licence. This logo is to be used by the licence holder in any advertising of his operations and on his home page. A licence for the operation of a tour operator and a travel agency does not carry a time limit. Only those who have obtained a licence from the Icelandic Tourist Board are authorised to include the terms tour operator or travel agency in the name of their operation.” You can read more about the travel agency requirements in Iceland here

The Wilderness First Responder:

The Wilderness First Responder program is the ideal medical training for leaders in remote areas including outdoor educators, guides, military, professional search and rescue teams, researchers, and those involved in disaster relief. The curriculum is comprehensive and practical. It includes the essential principles and skills required to assess and manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments for days and weeks if necessary.

Trip Advisor:

In the past few years we have been consequently awarded with a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence which is an award based on the consistently great travellers’ reviews published on the world’s largest travel site. We are extremely proud you are choosing our tours and we are even more than happy to see such a positive feedback afterwards. Thank you.

Clean & Safe:
The project of Icelandic Tourist Board aims to help tourism operators welcome their customers safely and responsibly during the Covid-19 pandemic. The project has been approved by the Health inspection authorities in Iceland and  World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). It can be expected that Covid – 19 will change the travel habits and needs of people with different emphases and changed attitudes. New standards, new values and other requirements are expected to emerge. It is important that the tourism industry adapts to this new reality and that the tourism operators are willing to receive customers in a safe and responsible way. Iceland must continue to be a desirable and safe destination.
