It was a rainy tour experience so we were soaked in the rain. We should have prepared better clothes for this weather. Experience was one of a kind. You have to walk on ice for hours to reach the ice caves.

An absolutely incredible experience – worth every minute!

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Iceland! We did the 6-hour glacier hiking and ice cave experience, and honestly, it was worth every minute. I would definitely recommend choosing the longer option, as I’m not sure how much you would get to see with a shorter tour.

Our guide Lucy Ann and Damian, were absolutely fantastic. They were incredibly friendly, helpful and attentive throughout the entire experience, always making sure we felt safe and comfortable on the glacier.

They really went the extra mile to show us as much as possible. It was actually the first day of the season that the glacier was open for visitors, and they even took the time to build some additional access points on the spot so that we could explore caves that they themselves had only just discovered!

It made the experience feel genuinely special and adventurous, rather than like a standard tour where you simply follow a predetermined route.

A huge kudos to Lucy Ann and Damian for their enthusiasm, knowledge and dedication. They clearly love what they do and it showed throughout the entire experience.

I would recommend this experience without hesitation. If you're considering it, go for the longer tour — you won't regret it!

Die Tour auf den Gletscher und die Eishöhlen war super! Die Fahrt dort hin war abenteuerlich isländisch, aber mit klasse Aussicht ;) Unser Guide hat einen tollen Job gemacht! Grüße gehen raus. Würden die Tour wieder machen. Unbedingt machen (eher bei Sonnenschein für den besseren Effekt in der Höhle)

It was a great experience, I truly recommend it. The guides were kind and the glacier is amazing. They let us did the experience even if it rained all day. Most of all, the company is efficient and kind. We had the tour planned for the morning at 9 but an issue with the car prevented us to be there in the morning. The company promptly and quickly replied to our message (even though we contacted them at 8:30 pm), giving different options to postpone our activity without loosing any money.

I loved this 4 hrs long tour, hiking on the Vatnajökull glacier, specifically on the Falljökull that we reached on a super jeep, after a short ride.
Alex, the Californian tour guide, was very kind, prepared, keen to answer to all of our questions, explaining a lot about glaciers and Iceland and caring about our safety.

La nostra guida, Thomas, è stata fantastica. Ha accompagnato l’escursione con delle spiegazioni semplici e curiosità. Il ghiacciaio è meraviglioso, abbiamo avuto l’opportunità, nonostante fosse il 1 ottobre, di visitare ben due grotte di ghiaccio. Ne vale assolutamente la pena!

We had a fantastic experience, and our guide Damian was excellent. He was very attentive, answered all our questions with great patience, and made sure we had plenty of time to take photos in the most beautiful parts of the cave. On a adoré l'expérience Ice Cave with Discovery. La 1ère grotte est fun mais c'est le tourisme de masse à son fort MAIS la partie discovery qui est une randonnée guidée sur le glacier valait son pesant d'or. Des guides sympathiques qui répondent à nos 10 000 questions et qui savent où nous amener pour vivre une expérience hors du commun et qui veillent à notre sécurité. On se croyait sur une autre planète. C'est quand-même sportif comme expérience et requiert de l'équilibre. Amenez-vous un snack, c'est important.

氷河のけっこう上のほうまで登りました。 クレバスの生成やモレーンの話など面白かったです。 なかなか他ではできない体験だと思いました。 バスではなく4輪駆動車で氷河に近いところまで行けるのも、無駄に歩くところが少なくて良かった点です。

We had an awesome hike with our Polish guide, Michal! He was very patient, explained everything clearly, helped us with our gear, and answered all our questions.

The glacier is absolutely beautiful, and we were lucky to have perfect weather. I wish we could have hiked a bit further up, but with a mixed group, different levels of experience, and limited time, I understand that it’s difficult.

On the way back, Michal also showed us some of the techniques and equipment used in more challenging conditions, which was super cool as well!

Wir hatten für den 15.09. die Tour Glacier Encounter gebucht. Da wir bisher keine Erfahrung mit Gletscherwanderungen hatten, haben wir uns für die Einsteigertour entschieden. Die Tour war wunderschön und ist für jeden Einsteiger auch problemlos machbar. Unser Guide Michael war super nett und hat sich sehr viel Zeit genommen und alles ausführlich erklärt. Die Atmosphäre in der Eislandschaft ist einzigartig und faszinierend. Wir empfehlen jedem der nach Island reist eine solche Tour zu machen, es lohnt sich wirklich.

My family and I did the Glacier Encounter tour with Hannka. She was an excellent, knowledgeable, and helpful guide. We found the 3 hour tour to be plenty of time to explore, although we may have benefitted from being a small group (only 6) and we had a guide who was mindful of other larger groups on the glacier and hitting the hot spots strategically to avoid crowds or having to wait for our turn. The crampons were great, after the first few steps, it was easy to settle in. We had a gray day so we were glad to have layered up. On a sunny day, i would imagine you might overheat, and possibly sunburn. SPF and coverage needed for sure!

Good guide, worth it
Our guide Thorir was amazing. He was knowledgeable, down to earth, experienced and safe and even took some pictures for us. There is a 25 minute drive from the pickup point and about an hour on the glacier. You learn a ton and we got to do two small ice caves.

Amazing experience!
My family and I did the four hour glacier hike in July 2026 with Local Guide. The four of us were part of a group of eight (I believe that’s the max group size). Our guide was Michal (from Poland!) and he was simply excellent! From start to finish Michal was friendly, informative, patient and fun. The hike on the glacier and the scenery was stunning and was one of the highlights of our trip to Iceland - what a beautiful country. Great Guide, Highly Recommend

Superbe sortie sur le glacier avec notre guide Barbara. La description du tour est vraiment à point. La guide va a un rythme adéquat pour débutant et a à cœur la sécurité de tous. Doesn’t get better than this!!
We lucked out with has to be the best guide ever! Michal’s knowledge of glacial history was phenomenal. His instructions on everything from crampon to position of stepping (up slope, down slope, on gravel vs. rock vs. ice ensured a safe and easy trip for all of us. He took pictures of all of us, let us repel downslopes, and just…made the trip one to remember. Forever!! Will recommend this to anyone I know coming to Iceland! Hope to see you again, Michal!! Excellent - wouldn't do a 4-hour tour with anyone else
Outstanding experience. Would highly recommend Local Guides. First they drive you in a four wheel drive vehicle directly to the glacier so you avoid hiking unless then optimal areas. Our guide took us and much better way than we saw other groups going where we got to be on the glacier much more. Great setup to fit you with crampons; great gear. Didn't waste time standing around talking... Truly outstanding glacier experience maximising time moving on the glacier. Can't imagine it being any better.

The once in a lifetime experience
What an adventure. I highly recommand Local Guide. Our guide was awesome. Since the caves weren't as extraordinary as usual, Mike took the time with our small group (about 11 people) and brought us to two small caves, we had a nice hike on the glacier. He taught us a lot about the region. The tour that was expected to last 3 to 4 hours lasted 5 hours. That was definitely a great experience

Do not miss this one
Beautiful caves, we saw four and hiked the glacier while walking from cave to cave. Takes about 3 hours and they are very well organised. Timely, proffessional and our guide Mika was great. Awesome Hike
We had an amazing day hiking the glacier with Damien. He is FANTASTIC, very knowledgeable. He took care to make sure our small group stayed safe & together.  We chose the moderate/advanced hike - it was a top 10 experience & the highlight of our trip. The fog began to lift as we were at the 2nd plateau & we were greeted by amazing views & landscape. Amazing experience
We had such an amazing time with Kish as our guide! Once in a lifetime experience for sure! We felt really safe and we learned a lot of mountaineering skills and interesting stuff about the gorgeous glacier!
