GENERAL INFORMATION

After about 30 minutes of driving on a 4 wheel drive road we head forward on foot for about 35 minutes, following a gravel path before reaching the glacier’s edge. We stay in the ice cave for approx. 30-40 minutes.
We visit the Sapphire ice cave and explore the glacier above. The 1.5 hour glacier hike offers majestic panoramic views and close encounter with Vatnajökull, the biggest attractions in Iceland. The glacier has many interesting features such as moulins and crevasses which often can be accessible.
Included is all necessary glacier gear, including crampons, helmet, and harness. Your guide will evaluate each time which gear is necessary.
The group size for this tour is only 8 persons and our goal is to provide quality personal service in the realm of Vatnajökull.
WHAT TO BRING
- Base layer synthetic or wool, mid layer such as good sweater, wool or fleece.
- Mid layer such as fleece jacket, thick wool garment, prima-loft jacket or similar. Hiking pants, fleece or soft shell or similar.
- Waterproof breathable jacket like Gore-tex and pants
- Good thermal headwear and gloves
- Socks, synthetic or wool.
- Small backpack
- Hiking boots with ankle support.

Distance from Reykjavík is 370 km. and all the particpants are responsible for their own transportation from Reykjavík to Glacier lagoon (Jökulsárlón).
We highly recommend our participants to not travel long distances same day as the tour takes place.
All the bookings have right to 48 hours cancellation policy. Full refund if the reservation is cancelled more than 48 hours before departure.
Late arrivals unfortunately will miss out on their reservation and it will result in the cancellation of your booking and a full forfeiture of your booking fee.
